Holocaust Memorial Day is marked each year on 27th January, the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration and concentration camp.

On and around this day, schools, communities, faith groups and others across the UK join together in national and local events to commemorate the six million Jewish men, women and children murdered in the Holocaust by the Nazis and their collaborators, as well victims of other acts of Nazi persecution and of subsequent genocides. Each year’s HMD has a different theme, chosen by the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust, as a focus for educational and commemorative events. The theme for 2025 is For a Better Future

We have created the following documents to support teachers and event organisers around HMD:

Survivor Testimony Webcast

Our annual HMD webcast is a special event where hundreds of schools and thousands of individuals across the UK come together online to hear a survivor share their testimony. Students will also be able to send in their own questions, making this an interactive and meaningful way to mark Holocaust Memorial Day.

This year's webcast will take place on Wednesday 22nd January 2025. To learn more and to register, please click here.
