Lord Browne to head Ambassador Programme

Lord Browne of Madingley is to head the Holocaust Educational Trust's Ambassador Programme.  Lord Browne is the former Chief Executive of BP and sits in the House of Lords as a crossbencher.

The Ambassador Programme aims to equip the Holocaust Educational Trust's Ambassadors with the tools to share their knowledge of the history of the Holocaust and its contemporary relevance with others.

Since 1998, more than 20,000 young people from across the UK have taken part in the Holocaust Educational Trust’s Lessons from Auschwitz Project, becoming Holocaust Educational Trust Ambassadors. These Ambassadors are young people, committed to educating others about the Holocaust and remembering its victims. They are invested with the responsibility to pass on their knowledge and understanding of the Holocaust and to deliver a powerful message: the importance of challenging prejudice, promoting tolerance and never again allowing hatred to gain a foothold in society.

The Trust has appointed its first cohort of 25 Regional Ambassadors, representing 10 regions across the UK.   Over a fixed term Regional Ambassadors will be tasked with increasing awareness of the Holocaust and working with other Ambassadors around the country, as they embark upon their own projects.

To launch the Ambassador Programme, these Regional Ambassadors are now supporting the Trust in shaping a one-day Holocaust Educational Trust Ambassador Conference, taking place on the 8th July.

The Conference is open to all Holocaust Educational Trust Ambassadors and sixth form students from around the country, providing them with the opportunity to further their knowledge about the Holocaust as well as offering practical workshops on how to share this information with other young people.
